RSP today refuted allegations that it was trying to create roadblocks for the alliance between Left Front and Congress in the upcoming assembly polls in West Bengal, saying it is not rigid regarding the seat sharing and will abide by the consensual decision of the Front.
"It is completely baseless that we are creating roadblocks in the path of the alliance. We have made a lot of sacrifices for the sake of the alliance. We too want this alliance to oust Trinamool Congress," RSP state secretary Khsiti Goswami said.
His comment comes in the backdrop of impasse between the Left Front and Congress over understanding on 21 seats across the state. RSP has fielded candidates in nine of these 21 seats.
"We want the alliance. But we can't sacrifice everything and put our political existence at stake. If we don't fight in seats where we are strong then it will become tough for us to answer our cadres at the ground level," Goswami said.
"We are not rigid about seat sharing deal. We have placed our concerns before the Left Front, we will accept the consensual decision of the Left Front. We want to strengthen the Left unity in Bengal," he added.
