Project Sunayana, a CSR initiative of Rourkela Steel Plant, has become a beacon of hope for many poor children and elderly persons suffering from cataract and living in and around Rourkela.
Such people are identified in the Multidisciplinary Health Camps organised by RSP in several places in the peripheral area, a RSP statement said.
The referred cases are brought to Ispat General Hospital for advance check-up and thereafter surgery as well as pre and post operative care are extended to them free of cost, it said.
Recently four persons from Bisra block availed the facility and got back their vision. In a programme organised at IGH on April 6 last, these beneficiaries were released after successful surgery, it said.
The beneficiaries were Budhuni Devi (70) of Monko Gram Panchayat, Motu Mundari (60) of Talbahal Village, Usha Mohanto (65) of Monko village and Reena Mohanto (32) of Manoharpur Village.
These persons were among the 76 patients identified in the Multi Disciplinary Health Check up organised by the CSR Department of RSP at Manko G P High School of Bisra block on March 30, 2016 for advanced medical intervention at IGH.
Over 600 persons from RSP's peripheral populace have benefited from this programme, the statement said.
