Scores of activists gheraoed Malharganj police station after an FIR was lodged last night against four persons, including BJP MLA Sudarshan Gupta and RSS Indore Vibhag Pramukh Gopal Goyal, by a notorious criminal Manoj Parmar who was shot at by unidentified assailants on July 30 during a religious fair.
The other two persons named in the FIR are Vipin Gandhi and Chotu Mittal.
Altogether 22 criminal cases were pending against Parmar in different cities including Indore and Bhopal.
The activists submitted a memorandum demanding deletion of names to SP (City) S S Chouhan and also sought action against police officers who took down the complaint "without verification".
Meanwhile, another delegation led by Goyal met IG (Indore Range) Anuradha Shankar demanding a "fair probe" into the incident.
When asked if police are under political pressure to drop the MLA's name and if Gupta was given a "clean chit", the IG denied the speculations.

"There's no pressure from anywhere. The preliminary investigation did not point at any involvement whatsoever from Gupta. Police are doing their job and investigations are being done on the basis of merit of the case," Shankar said.
Interestingly, BJP MP Sumitra Mahajan, along with a few party legislators and functionaries yesterday visited the IG at her office after the complaint was lodged.
The accused in the case, MLA Sudarshan Gupta had yesterday said that allegations against him were "false and a part of political conspiracy".
