Concerns over removal of certain anomalies in the history books of the country and making quality education affordable to all were raised at a meeting of representatives of RSS-affiliate organisations, the BJP leaders and HRD Minister Smriti Irani here today.
The meeting is part of BJP's measures to ensure better coordination between the government and the party and its affiliated organisations for improving the education sector.
Voicing their concerns over the growing cost of education in the country and seeking to make it affordable, Sangh- affiliated groups called for a central legislation to regulate the cost from primary to higher level.
They also voiced concerns over improving the quality of education in the country and sought inclusion of moral values in the education system.
The first meeting of its kind for the education sector during Modi government's tenure was aimed at seeking the views of organisations working in the field and help improve coordination between the party and its affiliates and the government.
The meeting was attended by senior RSS leaders Krishan Gopal, Suresh Soni and Dattatray Hosbole, besides BJP leaders Ram Lal and J P Nadda, along with some senior functionaries of Sangh-affiliates. Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani was present and so was Culture Minister Shripad Naik.
Representatives of RSS-affiliate organisation like Vidya Bharati, Shiksha Bachao Andolan, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal and Abhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also attended the meeting.
Earlier, similar meetings had taken places between RSS and BJP leaders with the government over their concerns in the economic and social sectors.
The meeting came in the background of RSS ideologues like Dina Nath Batra demanding an overhaul of the course curriculum.
