BJP general secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy today urged party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Chhapra to politically "finish" RJD chief Lalu Prasad as well Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"His (Narendra Modi) contesting from Chhapra will serve two purposes, politically finish Lalu Prasad and put an end to Nitish Kumar's rule in the state," Rudy told reporters here.
Prasad has been disqualified as a Lok Sabha member from Chhapra after his conviction for 5 years in the Fodder scam.
Chhapra with a dominant presence of the Yadav caste is considered a stronghold of the RJD.
Modi while addressing rally at Patna last month had tried to seek the support of the Yadav caste by highlighting their connection with Gujarat's Nand Vansh and Dwarka.
The state BJP had recently send a proposal to the BJP Parliamentary Board asking Modi to contest the 2014 elections from any of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Rudy, who had lost to Lalu Prasad from Chhapra in last elections, said victory for Modi would end Nitish's rule and reflect BJP's growing strength in the state portending a change in 2015 Assembly elections.
Rudy also criticised the Nitish Kumar government for alleged phone tap of BJP leaders and demanded an inquiry into it.
