: The ruling AINRC has adopted a resolution, making out a strong case for establishment of a separate Public Service Commission in the Union Territory.
A resolution adopted at its executive committee meeting yesterday pointed out that youth passing out of educational institutions here were facing several hurdles in getting jobs, largely due to lack of a separate service commission here.
The resolution said such service commissions are functioning in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. There was speedy creation of posts and expeditious posting of employees in these States through the Service Commissions, it said.
But the Union Territory lacked the panel and consequently there was continued dependence on the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment and filling of vacant posts here.
Candidates of different communities would be benefitted in getting jobs on the basis of their merit and hence there wass every need for creation of a separate PSC, it said
It was also pointed out that there was no legal hurdle to establish the Service Commission.
