BJP today accused the ruling Samajwadi Party of "defending" BSP leaders who are facing corruption charges and alleged that both the parties were "hand in glove" over the issue of graft.
"There is a tacit understanding between SP and BSP. They oppose each other in public, but are two sides of the same coin. The SP-led government is shielding corrupt BSP leaders, who are being probed by the Lokayukta," BJP state spokesperson Chandramohan said.
"No action has been taken yet on the report of Lokayukta against these corrupt leaders. This shows both SP and BSP are hand in glove on the issue of corruption," he added.
Giving out an example, Chandramohan said former Noida chief engineer Yadav Singh, charged with irregularities, misuse of post and corruption during previous BSP government, has been given prime posting in the present dispensation.
"Despite promises to people of the state that strict action will be taken against BSP leaders if voted to power in 2012, SP has done nothing concrete in this regard in its over three-year regime," the spokesperson said.
