Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has directed the authorities of each district and every department in the state to set up their own dashboards to monitor the progress of government schemes.

Rupani showcased the CM dashboard to the participants of the ongoing Chitan Shibir being held near here yesterday.

The CM dashboard was installed in Gandhinagar in May last year, which enables Rupani to monitor the district-level progress of the state governnment schemes.

"I directly monitor all the programmes and activities of the government through this dashboard," Rupani said during the event.

"The dashboard is the third eye. It will provide the details of what is going on from Lakhpat in border district of Kutch to Umargam in South Gujarrat," he was quoted as saying in a statement.

Rupani said his office has latest details of 1,700 parameters across the regional offices of 33 districts and 26 departments of the state government.

Under the CM dashboard, 16 sectors, including revenue, agriculture, health, education, energy, roads and buildings, have been covered.

The chief minister said Gujarat was playing a leading role in the country in good governance, e-governance and ease of doing business.

Gujarat Chief Secretary J N Singh asked the participants, including bureacurates, district collectors, district development officers and heads of the various government departments, to make the system of dashboards more effective.

"This tool will help the district administration in giving the best performance. It will create an environment of internal competition," he said.

Officer on special duty in CMO, D H Shah, said a dashboard has also been put up on the wall of Rupani's residence, so that he can monitor it.

The Chintan Shibir being held at the Gujarat State Fertilizer & Chemicals (GSFC) on the outskirts of the city will conclude today.
