Actor Rupert Everett is planning to write, direct and star in a new Oscar Wilde biopic chronicling the tragic writer's final years.
The 53-year-old 'Next Best Thing' star says it has been a passion project of his for some time, and it is finally starting to gain momentum, reported New York Times.
"I have spent years getting it together, half getting it together, nearly getting it together, and it falling apart," he said.
The British actor has refrained from discussing the film in detail before he secures a studio deal, but the movie is likely to follow The Importance of Being Earnest author's legal troubles and imprisonment towards the end of his life, before he died of cerebral meningitis in 1900, aged 46.
Everett has already been practising his portrayal of Wilde on the New York stage in a production of David Hare's The Judas Kiss.
