"At the moment I am focused on one-day and T20 cricket. Whenever an opportunity comes for me to play Test cricket, I am ready to take it. At the moment I can't focus on all aspects.

"(But) I have it in the back of my mind to play Test cricket. I am willing to wait for the opportunity," said the 23-year-old Delhi Daredevils player ahead of his team's IPL encounter against Mumbai Indians on April 16.

Russell, who made his one-day debut in the last World Cup in the sub-continent, got the break to play international cricket when he was picked in the West Indian eleven in the Galle Test against hosts Sri Lanka in November, 2010 which ended in a draw and saw his teammate Chris Gayle notch up 333.

The player, who considers himself a bowling all rounder, has not played another Test since then, though he has represented the West Indies in 21 ODIs and 5 T20 games.

The IPL, being a T20 event, is being targeted by the West Indian player to get some experience for the World T20, to be held in Sri Lanka later this year.

"The World (T20) Cup is around the corner. Just looking to get as much experience as I can of these conditions and get some performance under my belt to improve my confidence."
