S'pore minister to visit New Delhi for India Africa Summit

A senior Singaporean minister will visit New Delhi to attend the ongoing third India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) after India invited the country as one of two non-African 'Special Invitees'.
Josephine Teo, 47, the Senior Minister of State at the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport, will be in India from October 28 to 30, the Foreign Ministry today.
While in India, Teo will meet ministerial counterparts from India and Africa. She will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Singapore and the UAE have been invited by the Indian Government as the two non-African 'Special Invitees' to attend the Summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Singapore next month on an official visit.
India-Africa Forum Summit, the biggest diplomatic event to be hosted by India in the last three decades, will begin tomorrow. The four-day congregation will see participation by 54 nations. The forum is seen as India's effort to consolidate the historical ties with African continent, endowed with large reservoirs of minerals and hydrocarbons.
