A team of officials, led by Southern Railway General Manager Vashishta Johri which earlier undertook relief and rescue operations, today reviewed restoration work on the route.
"After the inspection the lines were cleared and made fit for operation. Train traffic in the route was fully restored around 7.25 PM," a southern railway release said.
As restoration work on the route was taken up, Southern Railway had re-railed the derailed brake van and the locomotive of the Thiruvananthapuram Mail.
Seven passengers of a local train were hurt when the Trivandrum Mail brushed against it before two of its coaches derailed at Pattabiram near here around 8 PM yesterday.
Traffic on four lines in the Chennai-Tiruvallur section had been suspended following the accident, leading to delay in departure of various trains last night.
