SA woman held for bid to smuggle drugs at airport

A South African woman was today arrested from Mumbai international airport for allegedly trying to smuggle out 26 kgs of methaqualone drugs valued about Rs 13 crore, a Customs official said.
The accused identified Sisse Linten, an event manager, was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport at about 6 am, as she was waiting to take an Ethiopian Airlines flight, the official said.
The 36-year-old woman was heading to Republic of Mozambique, the official said.
A team led by Sameer Wankhede, deputy commissioner of Customs (Air Intelligence Unit), intercepted her and after checking her luggage, the drugs was found meticulously concealed in her luggage.
The accused had procured the drugs from Delhi and managed to bring it till Mumbai in a flight, hoodwinking the security authorities at domestic airports, said officials.
She was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and would be produced before a court tomorrow.
