The scientists from four SAARC countries-- India, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Sri Lanka-- participate in the event which will conclude on December 19.
The workshop has been organised by India's leading scientific institute National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) for SAARC Coastal Zone Management Centre.
NIO's four-member resource team, led by Chief Scientist S Prasanna Kumar, coordinator J Ravindran and senior scientists Mani Murali and Mahua Saha will conduct the workshop.
He said the workshop will educate the member countries on the threats emanating from climate change on coral reefs, methods and approaches to monitor the changes in the reefs of SAARC countries and to undertake an effective management practices.
