Sabitri Mitra may be offered Manjul Krishna's portfolio
Press Trust of India Kolkata A day after Manjul Krishna Thakur resigned as minister in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet and quit Trinamool Congress to join the BJP, a party leader from Malda district Sabitri Mitra was today stated to have been sounded by the chief minister to take up the post.
Manjul Krishna Thakur, who was handling the Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation portfolio, joined the BJP yesterday along with his son and panchayat functionary Subrata Thakur, accusing the party of functioning in a 'whimsical' way.
A TMC leader preferring anonymity today said, "The party legislator from Malda district Sabitri Mitra who is now a minister without portfolio was sounded by the chief minister to take up refugee relief and rehabilitation portfolio held by Manjul Krishna Thakur".
Mitra has been functioning as a minister without portfolio after her social welfare portfolio was taken off in the last cabinet reshuffle effected by the chief minister in Mid 2014.
