SAC comprising chairperson Y P Nargotra and member Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain observed the statement made by Taj Mohi-ud-Din appears on the face of it "false and misleading" and therefore a case for initiating contempt proceedings made out against him and issued a notice.
The Commission's ruling came on the minister's response on December 17 when Taj Mohi-ud-din had appeared before SAC.
"I had appeared before SAC. I had presented documentary evidence to them to support my case", Mohi-ud-din, Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation, said.
On December 8, SAC had issued notices to Mohi-ud-din for contempt in forest land grabbing case and asked him to appear before the commission in person on December 17.
