A Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) activist sustained serious injuries today after he was allegedly shot at by two unidentified motorcycle-borne persons at Wadhaghar village of the district, police said.
Beant Singh (44) was hospitalized in a critical condition at a hospital in Ludhiana, police said.
When Singh was taking a walk on his village road, two armed motor-cycle borne youths fired three shots at him, leaving him seriously wounded, police said.
Two more unidentified youths, who were also on motorcycle, were giving cover to the assailants, they added.
Police suspect some domestic problem between Singh's family and assailants to be the reason behind the attack.
