SAD-BJP delegation to meet Prez on 1984 anti-Sikh riots
Press Trust of India Chandigarh A delegation of SAD-BJP alliance, comprising MPs and MLAs, would meet President Pranab Mukherjee on May 8 in Delhi on alleged "denial of justice" to the victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The delegation led Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will also include Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
"The delegation will submit a detailed memorandum on the issue of denial of justice to the victims of anti-Sikh riots of November 1984 in Delhi and other parts of the country in which thousands of innocent Sikhs were massacred," SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said in a statement here today.
He said before the meeting of the delegation with the President, party's Core Committee would meet in Chandigarh on May 6 "to deliberate on the issue and finalise the strategy to tackle the situation arising out of the decision of the Delhi court to acquit Sajjan Kumar in a case related to murder of five Sikhs in camp area of Delhi during the riots.
