Lambasting Punjab government's "sluggish attitude" on sensitive issues, senior Congress leader Sunil Jakhar today doubted the credibility of judicial probe ordered into the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot and the police firing that killed two protesters.
The former Leader of Opposition Sunil Jakhar slammed the SAD-BJP combine government for allegedly not providing sufficient staff or mandatory assistance to the Judicial Commission under Justice (retd) Jora Singh.
"The commission was set up on October 15 and had to submit its report within 60 days. But due to the apathetic attitude of the state government, it has not been able to start work even after 50 days," he said.
Jakhar said the "non-cooperative attitude" towards the commission showed how sincere the present government was towards the issue.
The Congress leader also claimed that SAD-BJP government was conducting Sadbhawna rallies only to suppress issues of affected farmers, victim families of firing incidents and the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
"Instead of providing timely justice to the victim's families, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal have chosen the route of Sadbhawana rallies to bypass the issues of police firing and disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib," he said.
