Congress today called upon people of Punjab to "throw out" the SAD-BJP led regime from the state and said the coalition government had failed in initiating development projects and providing basic amenities.
Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa today said this while addressing a gathering organised in protest against the alleged poor development and civic amenities of Amritsar.
Bajwa announced, Congress would take its campaign against financial burden of taxes imposed on people in various cities, to the people.
"The protest will not be limited to Amritsar. Congress will mobilise people in other cities as well," he said.
The state government has imposed property tax, heavy penalty on regularisation of illegal colonies and hiked stamp duty and power tariff which are higher than all other states, he alleged.
Bajwa also accused the SAD-BJP government of failing in maintaining civic amenities in Amritsar and alleged the financial crisis in Punjab arose due to mismanagement of resources and wasteful expenditure by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on their personal security and maintenance.

He said the SAD-BJP government had failed to project Amritsar as a centre of spiritual tourism and business hub.
Bajwa said the ruling coalition had hatched a conspiracy to oust BJP MP Navjot Sidhu from Amritsar and it was the reason that all grants to the city were blocked.
"Sidhu in turn exposed the falsehood of SAD-BJP government which is making tall claims of development in Amritsar," Bajwa added.
