Rana, who is general secretary of SAD district unit, and co-accused Gurveer Singh were nabbed this morning from Rajoke village in neighbouring Tarn Taran district, Amritsar's Police Commissioner Ram Singh said.
Three weapons used in the crime, a .12 bore double barrel gun, a rifle and a pistol have been recovered from them, he told reporters here.
The policeman Ravinderpal Singh was yesterday killed in full public view after he asked the youths including the SAD activist, who used to allegedly tease his daughter, to stop harassing her.
The cop had reached the spot after being informed by his 23-year-old daughter, who had earlier also complained that she was chased and teased by these youths, he said.
According to Ram Singh, she had told her father that the group of youth regularly intercepted her when she moved out of her house and passed lewd comments.
A profusely bleeding Ravinderpal (47) was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.
