SAD to hold five 'Sadhbhavna' rallies in Punjab
Press Trust of India Chandigarh Under fire from opposition Congress for the handling of law and order after a series of incidents of desecration of holy books and radicals taking the centre stage, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will hold five 'Sadhbhavna' rallies across Punjab.
SAD president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who toured Bathinda today to take stock of the arrangements of a 'Sadbhavna Rally' tomorrow, said Punjabis dedicated to the cause of peace harmony and brotherhood will flock the rally.
He said that to spread the message of peace and harmony, tomorrow's gathering will put across a message to anti-Punjab elements that people of the state stand for development, promotion, peace harmony and brotherhood.
Besides Bathinda rally, 'Sadbhavna' rallies are being held in Moga on November 28, at Gurdaspur on December 1, at Jalandhar on December 4 and December 15 at Khadoor Sahib wherein all Punjabis would gather and reiterate their dedication towards maintaining harmony in state, he said.
Terming the past incidents in Punjab as "unfortunate", he said that there were some forces that were trying to bring back the horrific times similar to that of 1980s, but the wise Punjabis will defeat such forces and prove once again that Punjab is akin to peace and give preference to all around development and brotherhood.
Congress and radical forces' unholy alliance has now been exposed, he said adding that these two were trying to disturb the hard-earned peace of Congress, but the people of Punjab were aware of their nefarious designs and would not let such forces succeed.
