Opposition the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today announced the second phase of 'Pol-Khol' rallies across Punjab to "expose" the Congress government for "betraying" the people by reneging on its poll promises.

SAD vice-president and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said the holding of 'pol-khol' rallies, which were been postponed at the onset of the harvesting season, would be resumed.

"16 assembly constituencies were covered during the first phase of 'pol-khol' rallies and the remaining constituencies would be covered during the second phase," he said.

Cheema said how the Congress government has allegedly betrayed every section of the society by reneging on its promises made to farmers, Dalits and the youth to get their votes would be "exposed".

He said the first conference would be held on August 15 at Eesru (Khanna), while the second, to mark the martyrdom day of Shaheed Harchand Singh Longowal, would be organized at Longowal on August 20.

On the occasion of 'Rakhar Punia' and 'Chhappar mela', conferences would be held on August 26 at Baba Bakala and on September 25 at the Chhappar village in Ludhiana, respectively, the SAD leader said.
