safety inspection on Palakkad-Pollachi BG sector conducted

: The Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru S K Mittal today began his safety inspection of newly laid broad gauge line in Palakkad Town-Pollachi section.
The inspection began from Palakkad town on the technical aspects of tracks, points and crossings, manned and unmanned level crossings, pillars and structure of bridges, curves and gradients of track, train hanlding equipment,station and other railway buildings, signalling mechanisms and their operational efficiency.
The team used the opportunity to verify the knowledge of staff deployed at Railway stations in this section on station working rules and gate working instructions, with special emphasis on safety aspects, a Southern Railway release said here.

MIttal wound up the day's proceedings at Muthalamada station, from where the inspection would continue tomorrow up to Pollachi Junction, it said.
Speed testing would then take place with the help of an engine and two coaches.
During the speed trial run from Pollachi, starting at 3.15 PM, the train is likely to attain speed up to 100 Kmph and is expected to arrive at Palakkad Town station at 4.15 PM.
