Safety of telecom towers would be ensured: J-K DGP

Concerned over a series of attacks on telecom towers in Jammu and Kashmir, state police chief K Rajendra Kumar today said adequate security would be provided to the network installations and their safety would be ensured at any cost.
The Director General of J-K Police, while chairing a meeting of senior police officers at Anantnag Range headquarters in south Kashmir, said adequate security would be provided to the network installations and their safety would be ensured at any cost.
"The communication breakdown in some parts of the Valley by subversive elements has affected the business, banking and educational activities, which is a matter of great concern," he said and directed the officers to deal the situation firmly so that people would not suffer.
He impressed upon the police staff to ensure smooth functioning of communication network in the Valley to foil the "nefarious designs" of subversive elements aimed at disrupting the congenial atmosphere in the state.
"The subversive elements have always tried to disrupt the congenial atmosphere, which has added the sufferings of common people in the Valley...There is a need to ensure smooth functioning of communication network in the Valley," he said.
The police chief called for putting in place effective security measures for the cellular companies working in the Valley.
During the meeting, DIG, South Kashmir Range, Nitish Kumar and Districts Superintendents of Police of south Kashmir, briefed Kumar about the security arrangements made for smooth functioning of the network system in South Kashmir district.
The officers assured the DGP that every possible steps would be taken to ensure safety of installations, the spokesman said.
