Providing women with security and safety is of utmost importance, according to American women diplomats.
Speaking at a discussion here last evening, one of the panelists said, "Safety and security are most important for women empowerment. Having access to clean drinking water is also an equally important issue as most women across the world spend more than half of their day in getting water for their daily needs."
Sharing their experiences in the diplomatic service and in the American society, they said there was no place in the world where women could feel "100 per cent safe".
They said it was imperative to acknowledge the existence of safety issues, which was the "first and a major step towards making a change".
Sharing their experiences as diplomats they said people found it difficult to accept a woman in positions of power.
"Men, especially juniors are most uncomfortable with it. They find it difficult to accept that they have a lady boss," a panelist said.
