Saffidon MLA, son booked for death of two non-Jat youths

An uneasy calm prevailed in the town as a group of non-Jat people demanded action against those responsible for the death of two youths from their community here during the protests by the Jats for reservation following which an MLA and his son has been booked.
Veer Singh of Chhapar village and Navin Kumar, both non-Jat, were killed yesterday. Their relatives, joined by their community members, did not allow a post-mortem demanding action aginst those responsible.
Jind SP Abhishek Jorwal said they have booked Saffidon Independent MLA Jasbir Deswal, his son Joni and other people on the basis of a complaint filed by Navin's uncle Om Prakash.
The government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased and job to a member of the two families.
Led by their leader Karmbeer Saini the agitating group demanded martyr status for the deceased, Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of the deceased, Rs 20 lakh each for the injured people and resignation of Deswal.
In a clash between Jats and non-Jats last evening Veer Singh had died on the spot whereas Navin succumbed to his injuries in the night.
