Saffronart to auction Anish Kapoor's installation tomorrow

Private art auction house Saffronart will for the first time hold an auction of the London-based Indian-origin artist Anish Kapoor's installation here tomorrow, the auction house said today.
Kapoor's work, a large concave stainless steel installation, is estimated to cost Rs 6 crore and is the first of its scale to be auctioned in the country.
The live auction will also include exceptional works of the modern and contemporary Indian art by V S Gaitonde, Tyeb Mehta, Manjit Bawa, M F Husain, Bharti Kher, Subodh Gupta and Rameshwar Broota.
Hugo Weihe, Saffronart chief executive, said, "We are proud to present a carefully curated collection of exceptional works by the masters at various price points. This should be appealing to new and seasoned collectors alike".
Other works include an oil on canvas by Manjit Bawa (1992) and is likely to fetch Rs 2-3 crore, while a 1971 painting by Gaitonde is estimated to get Rs 6-8 crore and a rare 1966 painting by Tyeb Mehta may fetch Rs 4-5 crore, the auction house said.
Set up in 2000, Saffronart is a global company with Indian roots, which offers a platform for fine art and collectibles and is the subject of a case study at the Harvard Business School.
It has held several online and live auctions in Mumbai, New Delhi, New York, London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
