Sainik Farms illegal casino case: Court grants bail to 7 men

A city court today granted bail to seven persons, arrested in connection with a gambling case in which an illegal casino was busted in South Delhi's posh Sainik Farms area.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sonu Agnihotri enlarged on bail seven men who were yesterday arrested for alleged offences under the Delhi Excise Act and Delhi Gambling Act.
The accused were produced before the court by the police which had sought judicial custody for them.
The police had arrested 36 people, including businessmen and four women, out of whom, 29 had secured bail yesterday from the police station as their offence was bailable.

A joint police team of Neb Sarai and Malviya Nagar had conducted a raid at J-255, Sainik Farms in the wee hours yesterday after they got a tip-off.
Police said almost two dozen people were found playing casino in the premises and "eleven luxury vehicles, 23 bottles of foreign made liquor and gambling chips worth Rs 1,36,45,000 have been seized".

"We have also seized 250 packets of playing cards, wheel, spinning ball and other tools used in casino," it said, adding that crores of rupees were wagered each day and a player had to spend a minimum of Rs five lakh for entry and each chip was worth Rs one lakh.

According to police, many of the arrested persons belong to reputed business families of Gurgaon, Faridabad and Delhi and among those held included players, table attendants and proprietors.
Two separate cases under the Delhi Gambling Act and Delhi Excise Act have been registered at Neb Sarai Police Station here.
Police said more people, including owner of the premises, are likely to be arrested in the case and they will take steps to seal the property under the provisions of Delhi Gambling Act.
