Travel gear maker Samsonite and consumer electronic firm Panasonic on Thursday announced to enter into a strategic partnership to create a new-generation travel suitcase, which would interact with the owners.
As part of that, Samsonite's new product EVOA Tech will have Panasonic's SeekitTM Bluetooth Tracker that will enable customers to tag and track their luggage, said a joint statement.
The sleek Bluetooth tracker, Seekit, was developed at Panasonic's innovation centre in India, it added.
Samsonite South Asia Chief Executive Officer Jai Krishnan said, "We have added some features like a biometric locking system, an inbuilt weighing scale and a USB port. For developing the Bluetooth tracking software, Panasonic was a natural choice."
Panasonic India and South Asia President and CEO Manish Sharma said, "We strongly believe that an association with key partners such as Samsonite not only gives us an opportunity to bring innovative technology offerings to a larger customer base but also expands our vision of connected ecosystem through our solutions-oriented approach."
