Samsung India launches solar-powered refrigerators

Consumer electronics major Samsung India has launched a range of solar powered smart convertible frost-free and direct cool refrigerators, targeting the semi urban and rural customers.
Smart convertible refrigerator, which is the first of its kind in frost-free category, will have prices starting at Rs 27,250 and its mid-segment range begins from 253-litre and has multiple sizes up to 670-litre.
On the other hand, smart digital inverter direct cool refrigerators' price will start at Rs 14,900, and the products range from 192 litre to 230 litre and will be available across key markets, the company said in a statement.
Refrigerators in both the segments can be run on solar power as well as on home inverter.
Besides, Samsung has also strengthened its AC portfolio on the onslaught of the season, by adding S-Inverter, a new range of air conditioners with digital inverter technology, which the company claimed to cool 43 per cent faster than others.
Commenting on the development, Samsung India VP Consumer Electronics Rajeev Bhutani said: "Consumers are looking for energy efficient products, and our new range of refrigerators and air-conditioners have been designed to suit their needs."

According to the company, its smart convertible range of solar refrigerators also comes with features as power cooling mode and power freeze Mode that help reach the target temperature in 31 per cent shorter time.
While Smart Digital Inverter Direct Cool Refrigerator can automatically adjusts its speed in response to cooling demand and is equipped with up to 7 compressor RPM that makes precise adjustments to cooling performance.
It has priced S-Inverter starting from Rs 35,900.
