"The company has good opportunities in the export market in the near future. We see big opportunities in African markets for ayurvedic medicines and other ayurvedic products. Several African countries have shown keen interest in our ayurvedic products," Sandu Pharmaceuticals Director Shashank Sandu told PTI here.
The company is already exporting its products to the US and South East Asian countries like Malaysia and Brunei, Sandu said.
Ayurvedic medicine is a system of Hindu traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent and a form of alternative medicine. "Our neighbouring countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also developed strong ayurvedic markets," he said.
Following the increasing demand, the company's Goa facility has recently increased its capacity by 30 per cent from 2 lakh litres per month of ayurvedic liquid capacity.
The company currently manufactures 150 ayurvedic products and is adding few more products for nursing mothers and curing boils among others.
The opportunities are existing in the industry and can be achieved through proper research and developments and there is no doubt that the industry will thrive, he claimed.
