Sangma, whose nomination was initially put up by AIADMK and BJD and got the support of BJP later, today also attended a meeting of BJP central office-bearers as well as chief ministers of the main opposition party-ruled states.
The party is also chalking out the programme of Sangma's visit to various states. The first BJP-ruled state Sangma will visit is Gujarat on July 6, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar told PTI.
Sangma, who recently quit NCP before filing his nomination for the Presidential election, reached the BJP office this afternoon and participated in the party meeting which was discussed the strategy for the July 19 poll.
"Sangma was present in the meeting of BJP office-bearers. He thanked the party for supporting his candidature," BJP Chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
BJP president Nitin Gadkari convened the meeting of central office-bearers of the party with the main agenda being the Presidential election and how support should be mustered for Sangma.
Later, at NDA Working Chairperson L K Advani's residence, Sangma met chief ministers of BJP-ruled states to discuss the Presidential poll. (MORE)
