"Watch-posts, patrol posts and infiltration check posts have been set up to ensure that the arrival, stay and movement of any foreigner does not go unnoticed," Sangma said while replying during the question hour in the Assembly today.
Watch-posts have been set up in areas including Rajabala, Ampati in the Garo Hills with one sub-inspector and two constables, he said.
Patrol posts equipped with one sub-inspector and six constables were set up in Balat, Shella, Komaghat, Borsora, Muktapur, Dawki and Umkiang and passport check points in Dalu, Baghmara, Bholaganj and Dawki, the chief minister added.
An anti-infiltration directorate has been created as a second line of defence, for effectively dealing with illegal immigration in the state. A total of 117 posts have been also sanctioned for the anti-infiltration directorate, Sangma said.
