Sania happy with Indian tennis team's show at Asian Games

Tennis ace Sania Mirza today expressed happiness over India winning five medals at the recently-concluded Asian Games at Incheon, although she felt many people did not expect them to do well with the team the country had sent.
"I feel very good. I feel very happy that I could get a gold and a bronze. I think many people did not expect because we did not go with the best team. But I am very happy that we could come back with five medals," she told reporters here.
With some of top players pulling out, the expectations from Indian tennis squad were not high in the Asiad.

Sania and Saketh Myneni defeated Chinese Taipei's Hsien Yin Peng and Hao Ching Chan to win the country a mixed doubles gold at the Incheon Asian Games. She also bagged a bronze in the women's doubles event partnering Prarthana Thombare.
Apart from these two medals, India's men's doubles pair of Myneni and Sanam Singh pocketed the silver, while Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan settled for a bronze.
Yuki also managed a bronze in men's singles.

Sania, who had won the mixed doubles at the US Open prior to the Asian Games, said she was happy with her career at the moment.

"At the moment, I am very happy with the way my career is going, with the way my life is going," she said.
Unwell since last one week, Sania said she was recovering well and looking forward to a break.
"It (fitness) is going ok. I have been sick the last one week. I have been recovering a little bit. I am looking forward to a few days off. It has been a very long few months for me. But it has been very good. So, I am looking forward to a few days off," she said.
Sania said she was not yet thinking about the 2016 Rio Olympics but was getting ready to play the Singapore Open in about two weeks time.

"Olympics is really far right now. I am planning for two weeks from now. Hopefully, if I am still playing tennis two years from now, then I will be there. Before that I have a lot more to look forward to," she said.
The Hyderabadi tennis ace, who has been made a brand ambassador by the TRS government in Telangana, said she would like to bring laurels to the state.
"I am very happy to be the brand ambassador of Telangana. I hope I can keep bringing laurels to the state," she said.
