The machine was installed at women's wash room in Baharagora College as a part of an awareness and support campaign about menstrual health and hygiene of the Women Empowerment Committee of the CII Jharkhand Council.
College Principal Satyapriya Mahalik welcomed the initiative and believed that this facility, sponsored by a local businessman, would help girl students and working women in the college.
Local MLA Kunal Sarangi, who was present at the programme, thanked the CII for its efforts.
Sarangi said this would help many girl students, who come from a rural and tribal base, to develop a healthy practice of menstrual management in the college campus.
CII Jharkhand also proposed to implement coin based sanitary napkin dispensers at public washrooms in schools and colleges, railway stations and at Ranchi airport for the convenience of students and travellers, a CII release said.
The dual benefits of convenient access and eliminating the awkwardness associated with purchasing napkins will put a lot of women at ease, it said.
