Sanjeev Kaushik appointed whole-time member of SEBI

Sanjeev Kaushik was appointed a whole-time member of market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), an official order issued today said.
Kaushik, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, is the Chairman and Managing Director of India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL).
He has been appointed to the post for a period of three years or till the age of 65 years, on the pay as admissible to an additional secretary to the Government of India or a consolidated salary of Rs 3.75 lakh per month, the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said.
An MBA in finance from London Business School, Kaushik has had a distinguished experience of 25 years in senior policy/regulatory and board-level positions in the financial sector, according to his bio-data.
Apart from the Ministry of Finance and public financial institutions, he has also spent over a decade heading the capital markets functions of global investment banks during a sabbatical from the IAS, it said.
Kaushik has handled the capital markets in the Department of Economic Affairs, where he was responsible for the policy matters related to current account management, foreign institutional investments, external commercial borrowings and foreign exchange management. He has also worked closely with the SEBI and RBI.
He was a managing director of HSBC Securities and Lehman Brothers in Mumbai.
