"Sanskrit is builder of the mind and personality of the people," she said during the the inauguration of Sanskrit Day celebrations at Pondicherry University here.
"It does not differentiate among the people as Hindus, Christians or Muslims. Every faith takes us to one goal, harmony, peace and brotherhood," she added.
Asserting that she wanted to put Puducherry "on the right track", she said her attention was focussed on creating a "cleaner and safer Puducherry".
Bedi noted that the two cardinal basics of good governance were creation of cleaner and safer or orderly and regulated environ.

"We are working together with utmost determination that a clean and safe Puducherry would mean drawing large number of tourists, generating revenue, jobs, and ensuring fast development," she added.
She also called upon local students to come forward and play their role in achieving the goal of prosperous Puducherry.
Bedi inaugurated the Rs 90.53 crore 'Digital India' Project Cell for automation of the administrative office of Pondicherry University in the first phase as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Digital India' initiative, a release said.
