The awards are announced once a year on Independence day in recognition of substantial contribution of the scholars in the field of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit.
The President also gave away the Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman to the scholars of Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic and Pali/Prakrit.
The certificates of honour were given to two Persian scholars for 2010 and three for 2011. Similarly, three Arabic scholars were conferred with the honour for 2010 and 2011 each, said an official release.
One Prakrit scholar each for 2010 and 2011 were given away the certificates of honour by the President.
The Maharshi Badrayan Vyas Samman awards were given away to five Sanskrit scholars and one scholar each of Parsian, Arabic and Pali, the release said.
