Sanskrit University to be set up in Kaithal: Khattar

With a view to promote Sanskrit in Haryana, a university devoted to the ancient language would be setup at village Mundri in Kaithal district, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced today.
Also, a government-recognised Sanskrit Gurukul College would be established at Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Complex in Panchkula, Khattar said while speaking at the centenary celebrations of 'Gurukul Indraprastha' here.
He also announced providing Rs 21 lakh to Indraprastha Gurukul and Rs five lakh to Chandan Devi Gurukul, Pillukhera, Jind from his discretionary fund.
Khattar, who was accompanied by Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat, also announced renaming the Sarai Khawaja to Gurukul road as Swami Shradhanand Marg.
On the demand of organisers to give recognition to Shastri, Acharya and Shiksha Shastri at par with Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Arts (MA) and Bachelor of Education (B Ed), the Chief Minister assured that he would get the matter examined.
He said the Indraprastha Gurukul which was founded by Swami Shradhanand had been "a centre for the revolutionists like Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Sukhdev and Rajguru where they used to conduct various revolutionary activities".

Recalling that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a clarion call for 'Beti Bachao Beti-Padhao' from Haryana, he said the Arya Samaj and other voluntary organisations have supported the state government in this noble cause.
"As a result of the effective implementation of Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme, the sex ratio in the state has reached 922 in January 2017," he said.
"The state government is committed to taking this figure beyond 950," Khattar said.
He said on one hand daughters of Haryana like Deepa Malik and Sakshi Malik have made the state and the country proud in the world in sports, late Kalpana Chawla had made her mark as an astronaut.
