Surjit Singh, a BSF sepoy who is a prisoner of war for the past 42 years in Pakistan, remains untraceable and his wife Angrez Kaur and son Amrik Singh continue to live between hope and despair.
About a year back, Amrik sought Pakistan Human Rights activist Ansar Burney's help in tracing his father in Pakistan and says, Burney had assured him of all help.
"But now, with the death of Sarbjit Singh and Sarbjit's sister Dalbir Kaur accusing Burney of betraying her and demanding huge money to secure Sarabjit's release, we have lost all hope," Amrik said.
Amrik was only one year old when his father was captured with 54 other missing persons in the 1971 war, Angrez Kaur recounts and says, she has now decided to approach the members of India-Pak judicial commission to know about the condition of her husband.
