Saradha Scam: CBI interrogates Sudipta Sen's counsel in jail

The Special Branch of the CBI today interrogated Naresh Bhalotia, legal advisor of Sudipta Sen and Saradha group, at the Dum Dum central jail.
Bhalotia was arrested by the central investigating agency on December 12 last year along with West Bengal transport minister Madan Mitra on charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating and diversion of funds.
CBI sources told PTI that a team went to the jail to interrogate Bhalotia on his role and his client Sen's involvement in the Saradha Ponzi scam.
Bhalotia is also alleged to have assisted Sen in writing a letter to the CBI regarding the involvement of persons who had financially benefited from the Saradha group owner.

In May 2014, the Supreme Court had directed the CBI to probe the operations of chit fund firms, including the Saradha group. The apex court also wanted the agency to look into the "larger conspiracy" angle.
