Sardar Sarovar project affected people hold protest

Social activist Medha Patkar today led a protest seeking action against those involved in alleged wrongdoings in the rehabilitation of people displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Project.
The protest was held at Narmada Control Authority (NCA) here.
"The government officials and brokers have not rehabilitated the oustees of the Sardar Sarovar Project as per the relief and rehabilitation policy," Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) said in a press release.
"NCA is hand-in-glove with the corrupt," the NBA, led by Patkar, said.
The people, who had been held responsible for indulging in corruption, in rehabilitation of oustees, should be punished and steps be taken on the report of the justice S S Jha Commission that probed the alleged fake land registries and other issues related to the oustees of the Sardar Sarovar dam project, the NBA added.
