Sarpanch commits suicide

A village sarpanch allegedly committed suicide today by jumping before a train on the Phagwara-Jalandhar rail section here.
Des Raj, Sarpanch of Khangura village under Phagwara sub-division took the extreme step on the rail track between Mehtan and Sapror villages, GRP Post In-charge Pawittar Singh said.
The motive behind the suicide was yet to be ascertained, Singh said.
