Sarpanch of Haryana village arrested in Delhi
Press Trust of India New Delhi A sarpanch of a village in Jhajjar district of Haryana, wanted in an attempt to murder case in Delhi, was arrested today, police said.
According to police, Pradeep (27) was evading arrest in an attempt to murder case reported in Najafgarh area. He was arrested near the bus stop on Jharoda Road, Najafgarh, while he was on his way to meet his friends in Shiv Vihar in the same locality.
A loaded semi-automatic pistol with two live cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Pradeep had been evading his arrest for more than a year. He was elected sarpanch of village Barhana in Haryana in 2011, said police.
During interrogation, police claimed he admitted that he had bought a piece of land in 2009 which was encroached upon by one Kuldeep who later started construction on it. Later, he went to meet Kuldeep at his office to settle the matter. But not finding him there he opened fire at Kuldeep's nephew Sunil Kumar who was present in the office, said police.
