A 40-year-old sarpanch was shot dead by two miscreants in broad daylight in Harindra Nagar here, police said today.
Baldev Singh, village head of Behlewala village, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne persons yesterday, police said.
The miscreants pumped at least three bullets into Baldev's body when he was travelling along with his wife Rupinder Kaur on a scooter, they said.
Police suspect that a land dispute could be the reason behind the murder.
Ten persons, including Baldev's father Ram Singh and brothers Hardev Singh and Kewal Singh, have been booked in this connection but no arrests have been made so far.
