Noted art historian Saryu Doshi was today appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) here.
"She takes charge with immediate effect. The decision was taken at the meeting of the governing council of INTACH at its Delhi-based headquarters," said a member of the council, who attended the meeting.
The post of the vice-chairman had fallen vacant after the completion of the term of Tasneem Mehta on March 18.
"Saryu is a Mumbai-based art scholar and her presence will add much value to this heritage body," the member told PTI.
The governing council has 42 members, including the chairman. It holds at least two meetings a year, approves the annual accounts and annual report, along with other policy matters, and is empowered to delegate all or any of its powers to the executive committee.
INTACH's current chairman is Maj. Gen. (retd) LK Gupta.
