The Jharkhand government today launched 'e-uparjan', a paddy procurement system to get farmers registered to sell their produce.
Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs minister Saryu Roy launched the new software system at a press conference here.
"The process of purchase of paddy starts from December 1," Roy said after launching e-uparjan.
Under this system, farmers would receive an SMS as to on what date they should reach the procurement centre to sell their produce, he said adding, a total of 320 procurement centres have been set up in the state.
The minimum support price for common paddy was Rs 1,600 and grade 'A' paddy would get Rs 1,640, inclusive of Rs 130 bonus amount announced this year.
It would be a cashless transaction through NEFT or RTGS, a press release said.
Department Secretary Vinay Kumar Choubey said farmers would get their money within 72 hours of selling their produce to the agency concerned.
