With government asking ReliancePower to restrict production from its coal mines in Moher and Moher Amlohri Extension blocks - linked to its Sasan UMPP - to 16 MTPA, Sasan Power has asked Coal Ministry to review its order.
"Sasan Power Ltd has made several representations to Ministry of Coal to review its order and has claimed that the coal requirement for Sasan UMPP is about 20 MTPA (million tonnes per annum)," Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal has said a written reply to Lok Sabha.
The representations of the company have been forwarded to the Ministry of Power, Coal Mine and Planning Design Institute and Central Electricity Authority for comments, the minister said.
Ministry of Coal had in June directed Sasan Power to submit the revised mining plan for Moher and Moher Amlohri extension coal blocks for revision of mine capacity from 20 MTPA to 16 MTPA.
The government in May cancelled the allocation of one of three coal blocks to Reliance Power's Sasan project in Madhya Pradesh. The Supreme Court had scrapped allocations of 204 coal blocks last year.
In March, Reliance Power said its 3,960-MW Sasan thermal power project had been fully commissioned.
Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power has already announced termination of the contract for Rs 36,000-crore Tilaiya UMPP in Jharkhand over "inordinate delays" in land acquisition.
