Senior Congress leader Ajay Singh today said the bribery incident allegedly involving Satna civic chief has exposed Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's policy of "zero tolerance against corruption."
The state's Lokayukta police yesterday arrested Satna Municipal Commissioner Surendra Kumar Kathuriya for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 12 lakh in cash and jewellery, said to be of gold, worth Rs 10 lakh.
Kathuriya had demanded Rs 40 lakh in cash and Rs 10 lakh worth of gold jewellery from a nursing home owner for not dismantling parts of its building that had allegedly been constructed illegally, Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Divesh Pathak earlier said.
"The incident of the Satna municipal commissioner being caught red-handed taking the bribe of Rs 12 lakh and gold biscuits has exposed the announcement of Chouhan about zero tolerance against corruption," Ajay Singh said here.
The corruption in Madhya Pradesh has reached from the bottom to the top level, the Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly alleged.
